Run, Stand or Hide?

When faced with a looming conflict regardless of scale we all have three choices for survival. We can run, stand our ground and fight or we can hide. Each option has it's own consequences with a variety of possible outcomes. When facing a bear in the woods your decision may be different than facing a bully on the playground. Standing your ground against the bear is not a good bet. Standing against the bully may hurt but it can earn you respect. Of course other elements are a factor as to which option you choose. With a weapon, say a gun, your chances of standing against the bear have greatly increased. I would hope a stick would be a weapon of protection against the bully and not a gun. The point obviously depends on several factors as to fight or flight.

A sense of loss

Pain is a difficult part of life. For the Christian questions arise as to God's love. For the non-Christian questions arise as to God's existence. These reactions are natural but reveal our lack of understanding of God. Of course pain comes in different levels and the severity usually determines our reaction.

For the last couple of days my right eye has been bothering me. Not sure why. Maybe just irritation or maybe something else. While annoying, it is manageable and though I am not a hypochondriac my imagination does wander a little. I imagine what it would be like if it were more serious. Something that would cost me my sight. My thoughts are quickly turned to a grateful heart because as I imagine life with out sight I realize how precious sight really is to my every day activity.

Thank You Easter Bunny and Santa

As I grow in Christ I become more frustrated at how commercialism takes away from our holidays that celebrate the core foundation of our faith. Christmas is about God humbling himself and becoming a child. God in flesh dwelling among us. Easter is even better! God made away through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we could be reconciled back to him and have a personal relationship with our creator for eternity.

What do you know?

I am convinced that the world needs Christians that know why they believe what they believe and then act on it. That may sound simple but sadly the modern Christian has become just like every other religious person with the attitude that stiff arms questions and says, "my leaders say it, I believe it and that settles it". I have even heard Bible believing pastors say that from the pulpit. The problem with that attitude is two fold. 1. It is more often than not, a cop-out for not having an answer to questions and 2. questions need and deserve to be answered.
